I've definitely got the knitting bug again and I've remembered how great it is to have a more portable craft, and one that can be done whilst watching things! This top has accompanied all sorts of visual delights, including an entire new season of Arrested Development (in one sitting - madness).
I've had the pattern for years and made one about 5 years ago but then lost weight and it no longer fitted so I got rid of it. I can never afford the actual yarns for these patterns as they're such a rip-off but I wanted something summery and cool (as in opposed to warm) and this yarn from King Cole feels fabulous and slinky.
The top itself was easy and didn't require huge amounts of concentration which is always a bonus! That said, I did manage to mess up the pattern on the back and did a 2x2 rib instead of 1x2. This caused problems because once the rib starts to slope in I had to change to the correct pattern, otherwise it wouldn't have come to a point correctly at the top. I'm really lazy and didn't realise until I'd got quite far, so just left it. Luckily I don't think it's too obvious as the back doesn't lie totally flat.
The flowers were fun and quick to make and turn it in to a fun, girly top. The rib pattern gives nice waist shaping and if I have any complaint it's that it's a little bit shorter than I would usually go for, but overall i'm pleased.
